Authentication solutions for WatchGuard VPN

WatchGuard VPN promotes Authentication

Security and Access devices, whether they are VPN, SSL/VPN or Firewalls, all still rely on traditional passwords to secure access.

  • To provide true security an organization must be able to positively identify every user attempting to access the system
  • It is increasingly simple for unauthorized users to get hold of a user’s credentials and this means that an SSL VPN or any other security solution that relies on static passwords to authenticate users is extremely vulnerable.
  • Over 60% of users continuously use the same one or two passwords.

WatchGuard VPN

WatchGuard VPN promotes Authentication as a core part of a network access strategy and recommends that solutions should be deployed to positively identify users and define "user" and "user group" policies. WatchGuard® Firebox® X Core™ models (X2500, X1000, X700, and X500) and Firebox® III models (4500, 2500, 1000, 700, and 500) can authenticate users using any one of the CRYPTOCard Authentication server solutions:-

  • CRYPTO-MAS
  • CRYPTOShield
  • BlackShield ID

WatchGuard VPN devices use the standard RADIUS authentication protocol to communicate with the relevant CRYPTOCard solution.
