Interoute Joins CRYPTOCard Service Provider Program to enhance its Secure Enterprise VPN Service

Leading European Network Provider to deliver enhanced security for VPN services aimed at the European Enterprise Customer

Ottawa, Ontario, May 01, 2008 -
CRYPTOCard, a leading developer of two-factor authentication (2FA) technology and Interoute, the innovative operator of Europe’s largest next generation voice and data network, have today announced the launch of a new highly secure IP/VPN service that combines the security of CRYPTOCard’s two-factor authentication managed service, CRYPTO-MAS with Interoute’s multi-national VPN services.

The service will add increased value to Interoute’s offering across a broad range of market sectors including finance and retail, and address the need for businesses to look at increasing levels of security for remote workers.

Neil Downing, director of IP services for Interoute, said; “Our managed IP/VPN services are of increasing interest to businesses who are looking to remote access to increase workforce flexibility, but our customers need additional levels of security to reduce the problems associated with traditional passwords – where the threats of hackers and ID theft are a large part of the risks associated with remote access. This additional need for security drove us to find a solution that met our customers’ needs of no up front investment and low on-going costs. CRYPTOCard’s CRYPTO-MAS service fitted the bill perfectly – offering the highest levels of security with a flexible utility model based price.”

CRYPTO-MAS is a unique managed service which provides a flexible, affordable solution using two-factor authentication technology, which positively identifies individuals before giving them access to applications, data and networks. CRYPTO-MAS simply sits in front of the Interoute IP/VPN network. High levels of security and ease of use are provided in a matter of minutes.

To gain access to the Interoute network users now enter their PIN and then press the button on a hand held device to get a unique One-Time-Password (OTP) – this means that they no longer have to remember their password and the company is assured that only their staff are logged on to their systems and data.

“Regulatory compliance and flexible working combine to give network providers such as Interoute both a problem and an opportunity, ‘how do I deliver a service that assures security, auditability and ease of access, but without adding high levels of cost to the infrastructure or dictating massive upfront investment?’ Couple this with the need to constantly deliver innovative services is a perennial headache,” said Jason Hart, senior VP Europe for CRYPTOCard.  “We have worked with Interoute to increase the security of its remote access VPN service. Not only does CRYPTO-MAS address the security issue but it is easy to scale and unobtrusive to users. European enterprise customers no longer need to worry about hackers, ID theft and other security threats presented by VPNs.”
