The service will add increased value to Interoute’s offering across a broad range of market sectors including finance and retail, and address the need for businesses to look at increasing levels of security for remote workers.

Northern Ireland Health Body Selects CRYPTOCard for Advanced Two-Factor Authentication

CRYPTOCard to deliver 2FA technology for 750 remote users across Northern Ireland’s Health and Social Care organisations

CRYPTOCard - a leading provider of two-factor authentication technology (2FA) - has today announced that Northern Ireland’s Department for Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS) has chosen the award-winning CRYPTO-Shield solution to safeguard the authentication of 750 remote access and systems administrator users.

The deployment, replacing DHSSPS’s previous estate of 2FA technology, will commence immediately and is likely to be extended to other user groups following the initial deployment’s roll-out throughout 2008.

“Increasingly we have a significant number of users who require continual access to hugely sensitive ‘patient identifiable’ data wherever they are.  It is critical that we keep authenticated access to this data 100% watertight and so we chose CRYPTOCard as the best solution to meet our strict requirements,” said Michael Harnett, ICT Security Manager of the Directorate of Information Systems (DIS) within DHSSPS. DIS delivers regional IT Services to the Health and Social Care (HSC) NI, which numbers around 70,000 employees/users in total across Northern Ireland. “We are strong advocates of the use of 2FA technology to replace traditional passwords, but our existing system dictated the periodic replacement of tokens; and so we sought a solution which offered the highest levels of protection but with a pricing model which delivered best possible value for money.”

Following the initial deployment for 750 health professionals, system support personnel and third party maintenance providers, there are plans to potentially extend its adoption to other groups such as those accessing centrally held web-based waiting list information. Migration from the previous token based solution to CRYPTOShield will be seamless and will not require the expensive and time-consuming token-replacement exercises every three years (or less) that were previously needed.

CRYPTOCard, a leading developer of two-factor authentication (2FA) technology for multi-vendor environments, has today launched in the UK its new SMS Token as part of the CRYPTO-MAS Managed Authentication Service portfolio. The SMS token offers the flexibility of CRYPTOCard’s existing two-factor authentication tokens - which are widely regarded as the most secure available – and additionally addresses the need for greater portability, affordability and simplicity, particularly among an enterprise’s distributed workforce. Delivered as part of the CRYPTO-MAS Managed Authentication Service, it answers the market requirement for zero up-front investment and maximum ease of use.

Mis-selling IT Security to SMEs is a Real Problem in the UK

Bristol, UK , December 06, 2007 - Jason Hart, a leading figure within information security and advisor to government bodies in the UK and overseas, and now VP Europe for CRYPTOCard, is concerned that the many business benefits SMEs can gain from using ICT could be lost. The cost and complexity of IT security discourages investment and leaves the SME vulnerable and exposed to the basic tactics used by hackers to conduct fraud and sabotage.

The Internet is presenting SMEs with a golden opportunity to create a level playing field with their enterprise counterparts.
